I like em’ small

In case you haven’t noticed – I like em’ small.

Sometimes smaller than the 2.5 x 3.5 inch sketch cards I’ve been drawing on lately .

Because I’ve been a bit of a penny-pincher these days, I’ve been cutting my own artist trading cards – which results in uneven sized cards AND little scraps of leftover paper.

I GUESS I could just recycle the scraps. OR I could draw some cutesy doodles like this.

Don't bother knocking.

Or this

Originally, I was saving these scraps to brush up on  watercolor (hyuk hyuk!)

But when I started doing trades – I took to these scraps to add some cute, doodly extras to the sketch cards as a nice surprise for the other artist.

Sometimes I end up taking a lot more time than I thought I would drawing on just ONE of these things. But sometimes I go free and easy and end up making something really silly.

I have a lot of fun drawing these – something a little extra for someone else to collect! They make cute bookmarks or piece to pin up.

If ever you trade art with me – you just might find a cute doodly surprise!

What else have I been drawing on these scraps or regular sketch cards? Check them out on my Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and now Facebook!

Trade Me Yours (Part 2)

Looks like all my pleading and whining got me some trades!

Maybe "FREE BURRITOS" would have sweetened the deal and got more responses.

Maybe “FREE BURRITOS” would have sweetened the deal and got more responses.

It’s so fun to get something in the mail that 1. isn’t a bill and 2. something that’s unique and JUST for you!

On the giving end – I find it very motivating to draw something unique, usually one of a kind for a fellow artist. If I haven’t mentioned this before – I favor drawing on smaller surfaces so these 2.5 x 3.5 inch cards are perfect.

Don't tell anyone - it's a teaser for the next Smash Bros game. You didn't hear that from me.

Though…it can be hard to part with a sketch card – that’s when I have to remember to either scan or take a REALLY good pic of it before sending it off :P.

I’m loving the growth of the trading community – the support/curating each others’ works – one of the most fun things I’ve ever experienced in the creative world. Even cooler – trading gets you the coolest art collection. Mine’s slowly growing, and I always love to look through them – take out your tissues, because – each one of these feels very special!

HUGE thanks to all the super cool artists who have traded with me so far. Come by my Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr to see what I’ve received from them – and give them a follow while you’re at it :)

So, what are you doing tonight? Want to trade?

Color away those Monday Blues..

With a cute Bilbo doodle!

I’ve been toying around with the idea of digitally doodling some drawings for folks to color. Seems coloring books and stuff are a huge thing and it’s really awesome what kind of art these books have!

This coloring image level certainly isn’t grown-up level. But stay tuned…still toying around. Maybe have a little sibling or your own jelly spawn color it! Print it color it – show it off :D.

And if you or a little jelly spawn colors it, let me know and share it with me!

Don’t be so Wishy Washi

Didn’t I just say washi tape is dangerous? Because it is.

Guess who bought more rolls when I swore not to.

Just roll with it

Just roll with it

But you know what – they’re too fun to not use – and they make my doodle backgrounds less boring (if I haven’t mentioned that in my last washi tape rant).

And I’ve been getting better at applying them – with the help of wax paper and whipping out the old light box!

So what have I been making? Welp – when I pick out what roll of tape to buy, I try to think what color scheme I don’t have yet. A pattern can be super cute, but if it’s predominately pink or any other color I already have, I force myself to NOT get it…it’s so hard. Oh the struggle!

Now let’s ROLL out with the round-up!

Here’s another type of tape that applies like those correction white-out tapes.

Pigging out on donuts by daylight.

Pigging out on donuts by daylight.

First subject to use this was Serena/Usagi aka Sailor Moon. Guess it was about time I doodled some fan art of that anime. What’s really fun about those types of decorative tapes is that you can easily make some curves and rounded angles. Of course, you also don’t need a knife or scissors. But a ruler does help if you’re meaning to keep it straight.

SHEEP. This tape has SHEEP on it. Sheep reminds me of New Zealand which is Middle-earth where the Shire is which means I had to get it and draw…

He is the most interesting Hobbit in the world.

He is the most interesting Hobbit in the world.

And because Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday is TODAY (if you are looking at this on September 22) this tape had a few good runs.

"Nothing could EVER go wrong today!"

“Nothing could EVER go wrong today!”

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I never tire of drawing Hobbits. I say that tape was a good investment.

Ok, so the last roll I got recently did kind of go against my whole color rule – but it is a slightly darker shade of pink. And it’s circus themed! You all know how much I draw circus-themed things, right?

She quickly realizes she's looking through the Beast's magic mirror. Butts.

So Snow White’s kind of my washi tape guinea pig. I suppose I could have at least drawn her balancing on tight rope or taming a cat. This time I’ve tried applying the tape vertically – it’s equally as tricky to get into those tiny spaces.

That’s what’s been going on in the WrathOfBom-osphere! I’m always down to nerd out on Twitter and Instagram!

Doin’ It Everyday

I’ve been good. I’ve been very good…

…with my Dailies, that is.

Since my last Doodle A Day back in March, I’ve continued my routine of keeping the pens and pencils moving with #DailyDoodles. The subject/themes of these dailies haven’t changed from last year’s project – a mix of fanart, Squires of Dimness, and my version of Snow White.

If you didn’t get the invitation, blame this guy.  Counting down to the Game Of Thrones season premiere.

Sadly, I wasn’t at the Star Wars Celebration, but I was there in spirit…and a doodle of the lovable BB-8.

It's how I roll...

It’s how I roll…

So…uh, what day am I on?

During the last few Doodle A Days, I thought about either having a day count or leaving it out. Since I didn’t want to confuse any viewers (or myself) with the years and I feel confident enough that dailies will be a regular thing for as long as I can doodle, I nixed em’. So there. I’m on Day…..something right now.

Follow along with me on my #DailyDoodles on my Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr!

Doodle on!

These are not the Valentines you’re looking for

Or are they?

Because I’m a hopeless romantic – particularly when my OTP is like, uh….hamburgers and my mouth – I scanned the geektastic Valentines I’ve posted for some of my #DoodleADay drawings for your printing pleasure below.

Whether you’re giving them to your favorite scoundrel, Grey Warden, dwarf, or whoever you think would take the Iron Throne – enjoy and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy 2015!

‘Allo, all! New year, new resolution to update this blog more frequently as I resolved to do each January. This is, like, my 4th time, probably. I guess this is my January tradition. Hey, at least I’m keeping it consistent, yeah?

Anyhoo, 2014 has been very good to me, doodle-wise. Much so that I’ve hit the 300 mark of my #DoodleADay! Some doodles I’m quite proud of, some…eh, were doodled just so I didn’t miss a day. Important thing was that I kept the pencil moving each day.

Quick recap of last few months’ doodles.

Been working on finishing up this small notebook which has mostly doodles in ink and pencil. Fanart doodles, of course, including some Game Of Thrones/A Song Of Ice And Fire house sigils. Nah, not really a fan of House Greyjoy, but I do like the kraken sigil.

So who hasn’t seen the Star Wars Ep VII teaser? I teared up and squealed like a little kid. So I’m a little excited. Other than going googly over the return of the Millennium Falcon, I love the little ball droid – BB-8. His pattern, whole mostly blurred from rolling around, reminded me a little bit of the Katamari the Prince of All Cosmos rolls. He teams up with the little droid and hopes that he can hit the goal in the limited time his jerk of a dad gives him. Keep rolling, little guy!

Moar Star Wars! I’m quite proud of myself – I finally got the hang of doodling Stormtroopers. Just in time for Christmas so that I can doodle one with a Santa hat. One of these days I’ll have to work on doodling a twerking Stormtrooper. Looks like that’s this year’s goal.

Oh, my little Squire Thorn! I find that he gets smaller and smaller so I’m never too sure what age he’s supposed to be. He may as well be bumped down to elementary school age. I was on a doodle binge here and Thorn needed to be drawn in some uncomfortable pose. He’s probably playing a really strenuous game of Simon Says and he’s about to lose.

But wait – there’s more! Doodles…from a tablet!

Tab…let? Yup. Guess who’s kinda entered into the realm of digital doodles. I’m still warming up to using the thing, though, now I understand why tablet users really like using the really fancy Cintiq models. Until I can muster the cash to lay down for one of those, I’ll be using my little Bamboo tablet. What’s it made so far? Take a look:

Art courses have finally paid off.

Art courses have finally paid off.

Took a while for me to relax, let loose, and just doodle. What did I start out with – a hot dog of all things! Don’t forget the mustard. No onions, please.

Amount of f*cks given from Bilbo: 0

What’s that? You were hoping you wouldn’t see another stupid Bilbo doodle?

Some day, her prince will serve. Until then, she’s hanging out with dwarves.

Fairytale world, hangs out with a bunch of dwarves…there’s a pattern there somewhere. This Snow White is neither helpless or played by an actress who once starred in some vampire movie.

New tools, new supplies, and a new year mean MOAR doodles! Here’s to a new year of doodlage, crafting, and writing.

And what happens when I hit #DoodleADay 365/365? Start all over again, duh.
